Description: Whitefly feeds on the cotton leaf and is responsible for the destruction of the plant leaf. It is estimated that whitefly is one of the main vector for the spread of the disease and destruction to the plant leaf accounting for ~20% of the crop damage in Pakistan. For the control of the whitefly various pesticides are used including neem oil, but the efficacy of these pesticides (including neem oil) it that high. One of the main factor is the inability of these pesticides to stay on the leaf (on which the fly feeds) due to being washed away by rain water (as whitefly normally attacks the cotton crop during the monsoon season, where there is heavy rainfall in the cotton belt of Pakistan). Cottigrow is a a novel formulation of a neem oil that can resist the wash off (rain fastness) from the leaf by the rain.
