Description: The National Research Institute for Science Policy (NRISP) traces its origins to 1969 with the establishment of the Research and Scientific and Educational Planning Institute in Iran. Initially collaborating with the Ministry of Science, it evolved through structural and statutory changes, becoming an independent policy think tank in 2004 under the Supreme Council of Science, Research and Technology. Today, NRISP serves as Iran’s leading institution for science, technology, and innovation (STI) policy research, operating across six specialized research groups: Policy Evaluation and Monitoring; Financing and Economics of STI; Science and Research Policy; Technology and Innovation Policy; Futures Studies; and Theoretical Studies. Its mission encompasses macro-level policy formulation, economic and ethical analyses, foresight studies, and evaluation frameworks to support national STI development. As a cross-sectoral think tank, NRISP plays a pivotal role in shaping evidence-based policies and advising key national bodies on strategic science and technology matters.
